HABEMUS PAPEM!

Benedict XVI, I've been saying that a lot today, it's going to be hard getting used to saying. I figured if I went ahead and started, maybe it would start becoming easier. Ratzinger is known as being conservative, but it could just be because his previous job was pretty much defender of the faith and orthodoxy. Some people are a little uneasy thinking about him as being conservative. Honestly, it sounds like he agreed with a lot of JP2's positions. Sure, he won't continue to do everything the same, but I don't think it's going to be a radical change to being extremely conservative. I doubt that he will travel the world like JP2 did, nor does it sound like he will actively search out inter-religious dialogue. I think Benedict XVI will be a fine pope, but no one in my mind will ever be as wonderful as JP2, I think he took the church in many new directions, and did great things with the papacy. I truly believe he is and always will be the greatest man of our time.

Away for the weekend

I'm on my way out the door to lead a retreat for high school sophomores from the Region X (Meade Co. and Hardin Co.) in the Archdiocese of Louisville. Please pray for the retreatants and the leaders.

Papal Election Information

Okay, everyone has questions about what happens when a pope dies and another one is elected. I even have questions and looking on the web, of course making sure my sources are reputable. This topic especially seems big for the younger generations since JP2 has held his office for over 25 years, longer than my generation has been alive. (Anyone that thinks they know because they read "Angels and Demons," you need to find the REAL truth and history) The link for this post is an article put out by the U.S. Conference of Bishops regarding some of these questions. It probably won't answer all of you questions, but it is a good reliable document to start with. Some sections get a little bit wordy, and some answers seem to be a little repetitive, so you don't have to read every line of it. Definitely, a great place for quering minds to start.

Hello World

Well, this is my first blog. I've never been very good at keeping up with journals or diaries. That might just be because the topic is me. Hopefully, I'll actually be able to keep up with this blog. At first, I am committing to writing at least one entry a week, seeing how it goes and then hopefully growing from there.

The intent of this blog is to write about Catholic things from this Kentuckian's perspective. The posts may vary, but I intend to keep everything Catholic related. I'm not quite sure what kind of crowd I will gain, but I hope everyone enjoys.
